Celebrating Freedom: A Journey from China to the U.S.
Perth was born in China and moved to the U.S. at the age of 9. Returning to Hong Kong after college to reconnect with her father, an investment banker, she realized the immense gift of freedom she had experienced in the U.S. This realization became the cornerstone of her career and the foundation of her success.
Breaking Boundaries: Embracing Freedom and Openness
Throughout her career, Perth Tolle embraced the values of freedom and openness, which guided her path in finance.
Throughout her career, Perth has embraced the values of freedom, openness, and refusing to limit herself. Her journey in finance began with Fidelity, where she quickly made her mark as a financial adviser in Texas and California. Despite facing gender biases in some environments, Perth used these experiences to reinforce her belief in the importance of valuing differences and surrounding herself with supportive mentors.
The Birth of Life + Liberty Indexes: A New Approach to Investing
Inspired by the value of freedom, Perth Tolle founded the Life + Liberty Indexes to invest in democracies.
Inspired by her friend Maggie who was denied societal existence due to China's one-child policy, Perth founded Life and Liberty Indexes. This innovative approach allows impact investing to be allocated to emerging markets without investing in autocratic regimes. Perth’s Index, unlike mainstream alternatives, avoids allocation to countries with low scores in civil, political and economic freedom, including China. Her hope is that as these countries become freer, they will one day be included in the Index, thus reflecting their progress toward greater liberty.
